2017 Jean Lumb Awards


Purpose:

The 20th Annual Jean Lumb Awards will be given to six outstanding young people who have achieved excellence in:

  • Academics
  • Athletics
  • The Arts
  • Community Services
  • Dignity of Life
  • Innovation

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

  • Enrolled in any grade in any high school in the Greater Toronto area
  • Of Chinese heritage
  • Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
  • Students who feel that they have overcome challenges or hardships are particularly encouraged to apply
Value: Six awards of $1,000 each
Process: The Jean Lumb Awards application requirements include:

  • Description of 500 words or less of how the student has achieved excellence
  • Two references (at least one from the school)
  • Supporting documentation

Deadline for applications: Monday, May 22, 2017.
Winners will be notified by August 31, 2017, and announced at the Jean Lumb Awards on October 29, 2017.

Background: The Jean Lumb Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organization (Canada Revenue Agency #2128 83058 RR0001) with the mandate of advancing education and providing scholarships to high school students of Chinese heritage. The Jean Lumb Awards were first presented in 1998.
